Uninor launches global GSM service in India

uninor logoUninor, Unitech Wireless of India’s real estate major Unitech Limited and the world’s largest mobile services provider Telenor Group of Norway, launched its global GSM service in India.

Initially they will be covering 7 circles/states Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar (including Jharkhand)

Stefan Kercza, Hub Head, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, said the Telenor Group had leveraged its position in India with an investment of Rs 2,620 crore, all for becoming a significant operator in the GSM space and getting 8 per cent of the market share in the next five years.

Uninor has a pan-India UAS licence to operate in India’s 22 circles.

Uninor products will be sold at more than 210,000 retails through around 1,000 dealers/distributors in the 7 circles, this is the largest ever launch by any GSM operator in India.

Uninor is launching its service with two price plans — a base plan called talkmore at 29 paise and a subscription plan called callmore at 29 paise Talkmore at 29 paise is designed for customers who talk longer on their calls.

The plan offers customers local calls at 29 paise per minute and STD calls at 49 paise per minute, with a call set up fee of 39 paise. Callmore at 29 paise is designed for customers who call more often by offering the lowest per minute local call rates in the market.The plan offers local calls at 29 paise per minute and STD calls at 49 paise per minute, with a daily rental of Rs 2.
